(daily mirror)Japan yesterday sent its special peace envoy Yasushi Akashi to discuss rehabilitation and reconstruction in a post-war Sri Lanka, the Japanese Embassy said yesterday
It said that during his three-day stay till tomorrow, Mr. Akashi would meet government officials to discuss ways and means of ensuring the safety and security of the displaced people and providing them with much needed relief assistance.The Embassy said this was Mr. Akashi’s 17th visit to Sri Lanka and that he would address a news conference on Saturday May 2 prior to his departure from Sri Lanka.
