(defence.lk)Sri Lankan armed forces have rescued another 2684 Tamil civilians from the LTTE grip in Wanni during 24 hours starting from 6 PM on Thursday (12 Feb) to 6 PM on Friday (Feb 13).
According to the reports received from the Sri Lanka Army 56 Division manning the active defence in Omanthai, 2136 civilians including 452 families reported from Kilinochchi transit camp during the above mentioned time duration. This group has 1084 males and 1052 females including large number of children. The IDPs were sent to the welfare centres at Pampamadu and Muslim College in Vauniya. Full text
