Government prepares to release the names of persons who supported the LTTE.

(SLBC)The government has condemned the attack on journalist Poddala Jayantha. Speaking at a press conference in Colombo today Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said a comprehensive investigation will be held into the incident. He said the names of persons who supported the LTTE will be announced within the next few weeks. They include members of security forces, politician and also journalists. The Ministry of Defence is undertaking this task. Speaking further the Minister pointed out that President Mahinda Rajapaksa led the country to victory not by copying any other leader but by giving prominence to local needs. He said the government commends opposition leader Ranil Wickremasinghe’s recent comment that everyone should unite to develop the country. The Minister said the government decided to hold Vavuniya and Jaffna local government elections very soon in order to grant the northern people their democratic rights. He added that the government has prepared a programme to gain the support of countries which voted against Sri Lanka or abstain from voting at the special session on Sri Lanka of the UN human rights council.
