Wheel issues in Battleground Camp

(LB)Several local aid workers yesterday welcomed government initiatives to restrict the movement of luxury INGO vehicles inside civilian camps in Vavuniya saying they raised dust and posed a real threat of inmates being “smuggled out.”

International aid agencies, including the ICRC and UN, have made a “huge fuss” over new regulations preventing them from taking vehicles such as Land Cruisers into Menik Farm. The ICRC decided to suspend the distribution of essential supplies to the entire village until the issue was resolved. The UN said they were negotiating to resolve the issue.
