Tamil Tigers and the PKK

The Sri Lankan government has finally declared victory over the armed insurgent group called the Tamil Tigers, a group that has been waging war since 1983 on the exclusionist government of the Singhalese majority on behalf of the Tamil minority.

There is no doubt that military tactics based on overwhelming force and manpower have worked this time, encouraging the old guard, which believes in such tactics as the sole method to deal with similar cases. Is a comparison suitable with the notorious Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which has been fighting against Turkish governments since 1984? Full text
