Ships return without delivering food due to heavy fighting

(DM)Two ships carrying food items meant for civilians trapped in the no-fire zone had to return yesterday without unloading, after being anchored for several hours at sea around three kilometres off the Mullaitivu coast, due to the heavy fighting.

Commissioner of Essential Services S.B. Divaratne told Daily Mirror yesterday that one ship, the Oriental Princess, sailed for the area with 500 metric tons of essentials while the other, the Green Ocean, had 35 metric tons of food items on board. Full text
