RESTORATION OF NORMALCY WILL TAKE MORE TIME

(DM)A country that is at the centre of international attention has more opportunity to draw upon the wisdom and riches of the world to solve its problems, than a country that is forgotten and left to its own devices. For the past two weeks, Sri Lanka has not been far from the media headlines of the world. The unique situation that occurred with the human shields held by the LTTE in its last phase gripped world attention. The visit of UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon is an indication of how important Sri Lanka has become to the international community. The UN Human Rights Council is set to meet on Tuesday to discuss the situation in Sri Lanka, with active lobbying by some countries very keen to investigate charges of human rights violations.
