Liquidation LTTE

(LB)The final hours of the elusive leader of the LTTE, Velupillai Prabhakaran is as mysterious as the man himself was— a shy, self evasive personality. Within him was- in the words of former President Chandrika Kumaratunga- a megalomaniac.
Did the Tiger chieftain want to surrender? Was he planning to begin his struggle from scratch from the Eastern jungles? What on earth influenced him to stay in the Vanni till the troops surrounded him? Did someone within the LTTE’s ranks trick him into believing an impending change in the status quo in the battleground, perhaps a BJP win the Indian Election or the Sri Lankan government bowing to international pressure to institute a ceasefire?
