In prelude to final victory

(SO)President Mahinda Rajapaksa had a strong vision to bring a lasting peace to the nation, even before he was appointed President. This was clearly spelled out in his election manifesto Mahinda Chintana. He reassured his stance on peace soon after taking oaths as the new President. He said that he would ensure a democratic nation with social justice.

“Frankly, I contested this election to build a better Sri Lanka. For that I need everyone’s support,” a delighted Rajapaksa said soon after his victory and appealed to all parties to support the nation-building programme and establishment of lasting peace in the country.Living true to his word he invited the North East political parties for talks in Colombo and in Norway and as usual the LTTE played the waiting game, the old tactics.
