Government employees in IDP camps to be treated with respect.

An open letter to the President Mahinda Rajapaksa

(May 29, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Public servants of all levels were treated by the LTTE, only as errand boys in areas under their control and were not given due respect. I have brought this to your notice earlier too in my letter of 5th May. It should be remembered that they all helped the Government’s Civil Administration to continue, bearing all the insults and disrespect shown to them by the LTTE. Their conduct inspite of the humiliation they suffered, helped the Government to show the world that civil administration was going on un-interrupted. Today having lost their prestige, all their belongings and help from others, they are compelled to live like slaves of the Government, with no security for their lives. Full text
