Fourth anniversary of Col. Muthaliff’s assassination

(nation)Col. Nizam Muthaliff of the Army Intelligence was gunned down by terrorists four years ago on this day at Panagoda.
Born to a Malay family, Nizam Muthaliff received his education at D.S. Senanayake College where he was renowned for his excelling performances in both academic and sports activities. Later on, Major Muthaliff married Major Kumudini Muthaliff Amarasinghe, Commanding Officer of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps.

The desire to protect his motherland played a big role in him joining the forces once he finished his education; thus he joined the SL Army as a cadet officer in June 1986. Before receiving his Cadet Officer Training in Pakistan Military Academy, he underwent his primary training at the Military Academy of Diyatalawa. Following his training endeavours, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the 4th Gemunu Regiment of the SL Army. Full text
