FMM drops projects amid probe on alleged financial irregularities

(ST)The Free Media Movement (FMM) – which is in the centre of a controversy over allegations of financial irregularities – has decided to discontinue its funded projects and to continue as a pressure group advocating freedom of expression and the right to information in Sri Lanka.

The decision was taken at its annual general meeting last week. The FMM noted that in view of the allegations of misappropriation of funds, it had dissolved the executive committee and appointed an interim committee while a three-member investigation committee was set up to manage the affairs of the FMM and conduct a probe into these allegations.
