After war, war measures

What do these pathetic journalists understand about Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is blessed to have a leadership who does not bow down to western pressure and do what's best for Sri Lanka.

Globe and MailThe government of Sri Lanka continues to show a lack of magnanimity in victory. Despite the end of the quarter-century-old civil war and the thorough defeat of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, the Colombo government has extended indefinitely a four-year-long state of emergency and will keep The Prevention of Terrorism Act in force.

Together with the detention in displaced-persons camps of as many as half a million Tamils, and a plan to increase the size of the armed forces by 50 per cent, this maintaining of a war footing is further evidence that there is little intention to pursue reconciliation with the Tamils of northern Sri Lanka.
