ICRC pulls out from Omanthai

The international Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) has decided to temporarily suspend their presence at Omanthai checkpoint in northern Sri Lanka.

Alexandra Mathievich, the ICRC spokesperson in Colombo told BBC Sandeshaya that the decision was taken due to ‘general insecurity’ in the area.

“This is particularly linked to few incidents and increase in hostility on the 11 November,” she told BBC Sinhala service. Full Text
