Twin air strikes at identified LTTE positions - Jaffna

SLAF fighter jets have made successive air strikes at identified LTTE positions located 1km Northeast of the Pallai junction, at Muhamalai yesterday (Nov 16).

According to Air Force Spokesperson Wing Commander Janaka Nannayakkara, the strikes were carried-out at 7.30 p.m. and 11.30p.m. An LTTE ammunition dump and a terrorist camp was destroyed while air force claimed heavy damages to another LTTE transit site in the same area.

Doctor, civilian shot dead by LTTE gunmen- Batticaloa

Two people including a doctor and a civilian were reported shot dead by LTTE gunmen at Vavunathivu in Batticaloa on Sunday(Nov 16) at around 10p.m.

The victims were identified as S.W Palitha Pathmakumar(Dr.), 35, and Terimbarasa Yokendiran, 38, one from Gampola while the latter a resident at Vavunathivu. According to witnesses, LTTE gunmen have stormed into the hospital premises and opened indiscriminate gunfire killing Doctor Palitha on the spot.

Meanwhile, the assailants while fleeing the area have forced into a house near by the hospital and shot dead the owner, Yokendiran, Vavunathivu Police said citing witnesses.

Further investigations are under progress, Vavunathivu Police said.

MI-24 air assaults launched at LTTE resistance positions - Mullaittivu

SLAF MI-24 helicopter gunships have launched air assaults at identified LTTE strong points and resistance positions located 10km East of Akkarayankulama, today (Nov 17) at around 11.30a.m.

According to Air Force sources, the assaults were taken supporting the advancing ground troops of the 57 Division. Defence.lk
