CPI flays Rajapaksa for his 'remarks on Indian fishermen'

New Delhi (PTI): Slamming Mahinda Rajapaksa for his allegations against Indian fishermen, the CPI on wednesday said the Sri Lankan President was attempting to "pre-empt" discussions with Indian leadership.

The President had said that the fishermen issue is being "manipulated and that the LTTE is using Indian fishermen to bring arms and weapons in their trawlers".

Party National Secretary D Raja said if Rajapaksa had some proof about the allegations "he should have taken it up with the top leadership in India" instead of directly going public on the issue.

"If there is any evidence to his allegations then he should have taken up the issue with the Indian Government," Raja said. Full Text
